If you’re currently designing your moving timeline, we’ll show you what are some tasks you should do one day before the move. These don’t have to be your priority, but they have to get done!
Things to do one day before the move
Moving house is definitely a process that takes a long time to complete. From start to finish, sometimes it can take even a couple of months! Keeping this in mind, you know that there are some moving tasks that you will have to start earlier. For instance, you can’t pack everything for the relocation one day before the move! You will begin this a few weeks earlier, so you don’t have to rush it. However, there are some small things you can do just 24h before the movers arrive.
Defrosting and emptying your fridge is one of these tasks. Of course, you’ll use your fridge every day leading up to the moving day, so you can’t do it earlier. The day before is a perfect time! Make sure to get rid of any perishable items, as Number 1 Movers will not agree to transport them. Take out the glass shelves and make sure they are secured for transport. Unplug and defrost it to get all the ice out, and ensure the fridge is completely dry before it gets loaded onto the moving truck.
Keep your family in mind as well
In case you are moving long-distance and driving to the destination, there are some other tasks you need to do one day before the move. For instance, you should prepare snacks for the kids, and food for the pets. Make sure you have everything you need with you in the car and pack the essential items you’ll use during your first few days in the new home.
Finally, don’t forget to get some rest. Moving day can get really hectic, and you want to have enough energy for all of that. So try to get at least 8 hours of sleep before the move, and prepare comfortable clothes and footwear for the day. It’s going to be a long one, and getting enough sleep is the key to less stress and anxiety during the day!
