It can happen of course, and it is usually no one’s faults, as we said, it can happen, and here we will see what to when this actually happens.

What has damage?

It all depends on what has damage? For example, if your movers have broken a vase with flowers that you have bought in some garage sale two years ago and paid fifty cents for it. Then, there isn’t much that you can and that you should do. On the other hand, there are things that have emotional value. In order to prevent any mishaps with such items, maybe you should consider packing and moving them on your own. Of course, that movers will be extra careful, but if you still have some doubts, the best thing that you can do is to move those items on your own. In a way, you will help your movers.

What if your movers break something?

What if your movers break something, and you find out that it is broken upon the arrival of your new home or office. You start to unpack, and you see that your TV is not in one piece. What should you do? What would be your first step? Firstly, you need to keep your calm. It is easier said than done in these situations, but this is something you need to do. Breathe and sit down. Once you are completely calm, start thinking.

The first thing to do is to check your contract with the movers. What contract says for situations like this? The best case scenario, you would call the moving company, present your copy of the contract and they would re-inverse you for the TV they have broken. However, if your contract doesn’t say anything about it, then you may have a problem, depending on a company that has moved you.

Unpacking is somewhat more fun than packing. Once you start unpacking in your new home, you need to be careful. Making sure that you do no break anything while unpacking. Another thing that you need to do, is to inspect everything that is breakable, one by one. Check to see if there are any damages on the items your movers have transported to your new home or office. Then, inspect them carefully. If there are any damages whatsoever, that wasn’t there before the move then you can act upon it. And how will you know this? From the photos you have taken earlier, simply compare the photos with the items.

If you know you have packed everything in a good way, and you have made sure that the item is safe in the box, because you have used moving boxes Ontario then there is little to be worried about. The best thing to do is to pack important things that you care about on your own. Of course, you need to know how, and you need to have the right material:

Get the necessary packing materials
  • Boxes
  • Packing paper
  • Moving blankets
  • Markers or labels
  • Duct tape
  • Scissors

This material is a must. However, when it comes to packing things like TV, or kitchen appliances, then you need to leave it to professionals. Keep in mind that your contract should state what are the options in the case that something gets damaged or broken by the mover. It all starts from there.

What if your movers break something? Well, if they don’t own their mistake, and if the process lasts longer, then reviews are where you go. Putting a bad review is not revenge or anything, it is just your opinion and heads up for new potential clients. Giving them a bad review is a really bad thing for the company and they will get in contact with you. If everything goes as it should have from the very start, then you can retract, or even better you can edit your review. In this way, new potential clients will know that they can rely on this company even if something gets broken in the process. So, basically, at the end of the day, it can be a win-win situation.

File a complaint immediately, and no matter how long it takes, you need to be stubborn and persistent with this until the need. You have paid for their service as you made the agreement. They need to stick to their part of the agreement as well.
