No matter if you just moved to Burlington, or are just visiting the city, there are many sports and activities in Burlington to choose from. For lovers of the active lifestyle, you’ll never be bored! Burlington is one of the best places in Canada to start a family. It’s located really close to Hamilton, Toronto, and the US border. So, everything is always close by. We at Number 1 Movers have prepared a list of a few of the best things to do in Burlington. Let’s dive in.

Once you’ve chosen one of the moving companies Burlington and moved to your new home, it’s time to start doing something fun. And what is more fun than enjoying some sports or outdoor activities?

    Seasonal activities

As with all types of outdoor activities, it really depends on what the season is. Luckily, all of the seasons offer a variety of sports and activities to choose from. Also, lately, as more sports are becoming popular, there are many closed spaces offering summer and spring sports during the winter.

    Bruce Trail

Bruce Trail is a trail where you can go for a walk, a hike, or a run. Obviously, this would be extremely hard and dangerous during the winter. So, the Bruce Trail is for the summer, spring, and fall. You can book a guided hike alone, or with friends, however you like. Also, there are a few trails to choose from, so it isn’t something you do once and you’ve seen everything. You can go many times and change trails each time.

    Rattlesnake Point

Rattlesnake Point is one of the most interesting and beautiful places in Ontario, and especially during the winter. Over the warmer and drier months, you can go rock climbing and build up some stamina. It’s really satisfying once you conquer a climb such as this one. You can see really interesting animals and plants you otherwise might never see. Camping is a fan favorite activity on Rattlesnake Point and even winter camping. If you’re brave enough to try out something completely new, we would highly recommend camping during the winter. It’s all about being prepared and knowing how to keep warm. We promise you that you won’t just freeze and get sick. The hiking will keep you warm after all!

    Bronte Creek Park

The Bronte Creek Park has the biggest outdoor man-made pool area in North America. It’s something that everyone should experience at least once. So, keep in mind, as soon as summer starts creeping around the corner, you go to Bronte Creek Park to see what’s up. It’s one of the best sports and activities in Burlington. Your residential movers Ontario would recommend it.

    Glen Eden

Glen Eden is a famous ski resort in Ontario. You can ski, snowboard, and even learn how to do these things. They have a ski school on the premises for your little ones, or for you if you’ve never skied. With covid, everything is a bit more complicated, but Glen Eden has made it work. Be sure to check them out and have a good time skiing!

    Shifilliti Park

Shifilliti Park is home to 3 outdoor fields for baseball and softball. The fields are complete with seating and even scoreboards, so you can have a proper match! You might need to organize your game for a bit earlier in the morning, just so you have a free field. But, if you arrive at Shifilliti Park and all the fields are taken, you can go to Appletree Park, Calahan Park, Oakledge Park, Roosevelt Park, or Smalley Park. They all boast baseball and softball fields, you are bound to find at least one free field.

    Lake Champlain

If you’re interested in some sailing and motorboats, there is nowhere better to go than Lake Champlain. You can go to the Burlington Community Boathouse Marina where you can dock your boat for as long as you would like. A big plus is that once you are docked and have been out on the water the entire day, all you want is to eat! And what better place to eat than right there where you’re docked? The Community Boathouse has a fantastic dockside restaurant called Splash. Be sure to check it out!

Also, do enjoy one of the loveliest views in town from the dock. You can take a few chartered cruises as well with some of the Community Boathouse’s partners. Also, if you’re moving your boat as well as your home, you might want to check out some of the specialized moving services many moving companies offer.

    Waterfront Park

The Waterfront Park is one of the only parks that allow fishing on its location. It has a Fishing Pier, so you can go and relax while trying out your hand at fishing. We recommend returning the fish where they came from, so as to not disrupt their ecosystem. Fishing can be a fun sport without any victims.

    Pickleball

Now, perhaps something you weren’t expecting to find on our list of sports and activities in Burlington you should try out. What is pickleball? It’s a simple paddle sport that children and adults of all ages can enjoy. It’s quite easy to learn the rules and even easier to get hooked on it. It combines some of the elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong and can quickly become very fast-paced and competitive if you get really into it. If you’ve never played it, be sure to go and check it out!

You can find it at the Robert Miller Community Center and the Center of Recreation and Education. Both of these centers have many other things to offer apart from pickleball, so they are worth visiting.

Those were some of our favorite sports and activities in Burlington. We hope you try them out!
